Free Comic Book Day this past weekend saw thousands of comic shops around the world offer a selection of comics for free.

This year, comics from franchises like Pokémon, Marvel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellboy, Transformers and more were available.

The Dayton region has several comic book stores, and here is a guide to some of those.

Maverick’s Cards and Comics

Adult Swim's Rick and Morty is touring coast to coast with the "Rickmobile" — a mobile shop with exclusive merchandise. The Rickmobile made one of only two Ohio stops at Maverick's Cards and Comics in Kettering on Sept. 18. The "Don't Even Trip Road Trip" stop came to promote the popular Adult Swim series "Rick and Morty" which just won an Emmy. Hundreds of fans showed up to get in front of a shopping tent with exclusive “Rick and Morty” items for sale in the parking lot in front of the comic store. ALEXIS LARSEN/CONTRIBUTED
